Look what I found! A former co-worker of mine at Digital Kitchen, Chris Abbas, updated his reel. He's an amazing designer, and I thought I'd share my personal favorite piece that I saw (and actually helped on, a little!) in production at DK.
Check out the rest of his stuff! Really inspiring!
Edit: whoops, looks like vimeo plus won't let me embed. Here's the direct link.
Not sure how much more I'm going to do to this. I might strip all the video footage away and just do a rotoscope animation of him on the pole. Minus the pole. I think that could be cool.
Here it is so far;
Oh man you guys. I'm still not used to using a mac, and because of this I just discovered that Option + V = √
So, I've been animating in Photoshop lately, and it's really cool. It's like... a combination of animating in Flash and After Effects, except... rasterized. Anyway, I decided to smash this little piece together (literally, minutes of effort - haha filters), dedicated to my friend John Mark. Because he's cool. And I didn't feel so bad stealing his video from youtube.
At Digital Kitchen the other day, a few of the designers and myself decided to shoot some food coloring and water for assets in this project they're working on. I really liked the idea of it, and wanted to recreate it for my own personal use. Today, John Mark and I set up his camera and shot something similar (only this time, I did a little more than do what I was told, haha). Here's one of the videos cleaned up in after effects:
Oh yeah! I forgot to mention I got an internship!! At Digital Kitchen, no less! It's an amazing emmy-winning-and-nominated studio that does a lot of commercials and trailer-type work. I'm just a lowly intern, but I'm really enjoying my time here and the people. It's been a slow start, but graduation is TOMORROW, so I think once I have that out of my hair, I can really dig in a learn a lot!
Here's a little something I did on like.. day two when we had a bit too much down time. Just after effects and particles. (You can see I used the seaweed technique on the Persona project for school - which my brother is currently putting music on, so that's something to look forward to!)
School's started up again, and I've gotten right back into Chance.
I've been working on the cloud billowing scene in After Effects lately. This was the first test I've done. It's too fast, and the movement isn't quite right, but it's got the right general shape and the colors are working well. I have a few ideas as to how I'm going to incorporate rain, but that's for later.
For After Effects (Film 250). I think it's the final assignment. It's a bit silly, but I learned a bit about color correction and using green screen stock footage.
I've been working on the 2D/3D animatic for Chance of Rain a lot lately, but inbetween, I have other classes to worry about. One of them is after effects. This week, we had to do an intro to something, so I decided to tie it in with my concept art assignment and do the intro for Devil's Lament. It's definitely Mad Men inspired, but more cut-out-ey.
Here it is:
The last assignment we had to do was to animate lyrics. I chose 30 seconds of Ludacris's Stand up. It was quite fun.
